During tonight’s Live, I’ll be sharing how to create a Faux Step Card that’s full of personality, movement, and just plain fun. This fold looks fancy but is very doable, even if fun fold cards usually make you a little nervous. You’ll see how everything comes together step by step, and of course, I’ll share tips along the way to make it easy to recreate at home.

The star of tonight’s card is the Sweet Bugs Bundle, which is part of the adorable Cute as a Bug Suite from the January–April 2026 Mini Catalog. This bundle is packed with playful images that are perfect for cheerful cards, kids’ birthdays, and anyone who could use a smile. I love how the bugs have so much personality, and they’re the kind of images that work beautifully whether you keep things simple or add lots of layers and details.
For tonight’s Live, I’m using a Faux Step Card fold, and it’s one of those folds that always gets a great reaction. From the front, it looks layered and interactive, and once you open it up, you get a nice surprise with extra space for stamping or writing.
The Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper plays a huge role in bringing this card to life. This paper is colorful, whimsical, and full of charming scenes that make your card feel like a tiny storybook. On this Faux Step Card, the DSP adds depth and movement as each panel reveals more of the design. It’s one of those papers that does a lot of the work for you...all of the bugs and the little flower with grass images were die-cut directly from one of the sheets in this wonderfully cute DSP pack.
To finish things off, I added a ladybug onto the mushroom, which is from the Ladybug Garden Epoxy Shapes, also from the Cute as a Bug Suite. They’re simple, cute, and exactly what this card needed to feel finished.
When you open the card, the inside continues the fun with more Sweet Bugs images and plenty of open space to write your message. I love adding a little surprise detail inside while still keeping it practical for mailing and everyday use. This is the kind of card that looks impressive but still fits nicely in an envelope.
