If you love bold layers, rich color, and a little industrial flair, you are going to love this first project from my Gears & Textures Card Class @ Home (CC@H). In this class, I’m featuring the Gears & Textures Bundle from the January–April 2026 Mini Catalog and showing you how to create strong, eye-catching cards with layered stamping and metallic details. This design has such a confident, modern feel and works beautifully for friendship cards, masculine cards, and more.

I walk through each step of building this layered background, die cutting the gears, and balancing the bold sentiment across the center. It’s always helpful to see how the pieces come together, especially with detailed cards like this one.

This card features the Gears & Textures Bundle with layered stamped gears, chain details, splatter textures, and bold graphic elements. I created depth in the background by stamping multiple images in Gray Granite ink, giving it that slightly distressed, industrial look. Some of the images are "stamped off", and that's why they're lighter than the others.
The layered metallic die-cut gears across the center add dimension and make the focal point really stand out. The “To a Fabulous Friend” sentiment is placed over a strong horizontal band, which anchors the entire design and helps everything come together.
For the Designer Series Paper (DSP), I used Nature Walk DSP on this card. The subtle patterns and earthy tones in the paper complement the stamped images beautifully. It adds another layer of texture without overwhelming the design. I love how the DSP peeks out behind the metallic gears and ties the whole color scheme together.
The featured embellishment for this class is the Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems. On this card, they add just the right touch of shine to coordinate with the metallic gears. A few carefully placed gems help guide your eye across the card and finish it off perfectly. The card kits for this class include enough of these embellishments to make the cards, so you’ll have everything you need for that polished look.
The inside of this card continues the industrial theme with additional stamped gear images and texture in the corner. I always like to carry at least one design element to the inside so the card feels complete from front to back. There’s still plenty of room to write your personal message, but it doesn’t feel plain or unfinished.
