Short & Sweet Saturday - Musical Season

Here's this week's Short & Sweet Saturday! There were so many things I wanted to add to this card, but then it wouldn't be a Short & Sweet card. LoL This would be a very quick card to make for your Christmas cards!

I used the wonderful Musical Season Bundle. It includes the Musical Season Stamp Set and the Musical Instruments Framelits Dies. Buying these two items as a bundle saves you 10%!

Dimensions:
  • Cherry Cobbler:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (card base), 5-1/4" x 3/4" (middle border)
  • Whisper White:  5-1/4" x 4" (base layer), 2" x 2-3/4" (drummer boy)
  • Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP):   5-1/4" x 2"
  • Gold Foil Sheets:  1" x 2" (treble clef)
  • Gold 1/8" Ribbon:  7"

Instructions:
  1. Fold the Cherry Cobbler card base piece in half (fold on top). Attach the DSP piece across the bottom of the Whisper White base layer piece. Stamp the decorative border stamp from the Musical Season Stamp Set across the Cherry Cobbler middle border piece using the Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin' Pad. Attach it across the middle of the card. Stamp the "Peace, Joy, Love" stamp on the right side of the Whisper White layer, just above the decorative border layer, using the Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad. Wrap the Gold 1/8" Ribbon across the middle of the decorative border piece, and attach the ribbon ends to the back of the Whisper White layer using SNAIL Adhesive. Attach the whole thing to the card base.
  2. Die-cut a treble clef out of the Gold Foil Sheets piece using the treble clef die from the Musical Instruments Framelits Dies. Attach the treble clef to the top, left corner of the Whisper White layer, placing it at an angle (see picture).
  3. Stamp the drummer boy stamp onto the smallest Whisper White piece using the Cherry Cobbler ink pad. Die-cut the drummer boy out with it's coordinating die. Attach it to the left side of the card using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (see picture).

My CPC Wood Crate Creations– September Bonus Project

This month's Craft Project Central bonus project is designed by ME!

Rustic is in, and these projects fit into the rustic-theme perfectly! This tutorial teaches how to make three different projects with the Wood Words Stamp Set and Wood Crate Framelits Dies. The projects are a milk carton crate, a gift card crate card, and a trunk gift box. The projects also feature the wonderful Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. This would also make a wonderful product-based class.

To receive access to bonus projects, subscribe to one of Craft Project Central's three, six, or 12 month discounted packages. To get this particular bonus project, make sure that September, 2017 is in the discount package you're subscribing to.

Creating Pretty Cards Sketch #75 - Christmas Quilt

Boy, I'm sure cutting this close! I try to do the monthly Creating Pretty Cards Sketch the first part of the of the month, but this month has been super busy! I used the Christmas Quilt Bundle for the first time on this card. I made it at a crafting retreat I was in charge of for my church last weekend, and the ladies that saw it when they walked by my table LOVED it. They really like the quilt-look of it.

There's still time for you to play along! If you submit a card on the Craft Project Central (CPC) site under the CPC75 post, you could win a free month subscription to CPC! You'll have to hurry, though! The contest ends this Saturday, September 30. Your odds of winning are very good, but we need to have at least 10 submissions to have a winner. If a CPC designer (like me), submits a card, our card will go towards the 10, but our names will not be put into the drawing.

Dimensions:
  • Early Espresso:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (card base), 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" (embossed squares mat), 3" x 3" (quilt outline die-cut)
  • Garden Green:  4" x 2" (green embossed squares)
  • Real Red:  4" x 2" (red embossed squares)
  • Whisper White:  3" x 3" (star quilt shape) & 3" x 3/4" (greeting banner)
  • Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP):  1-1/2" x 4" (left strip), 2-3/4" x 4" (middle strip), 1" x 4" (right strip)
  • Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets: 3" x 3"
  • Quilted Christmas 1/4" Ribbon:  5" & 4"

Instructions:
  1. Fold the Early Espresso card base piece in half (fold on top). Attach the DSP left strip onto the left side of the card base, and then attach the DSP right strip onto the right side of the card base. Then, attach the DSP middle strip in-between the two.
  2. Die-cut two squares out of the Garden Green piece and two squares out of the Real Red piece using the 2nd smallest square die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. Emboss all four squares by running them through the Big Shot with the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Attach the Garden Green squares to the top, left corner and the bottom, right corner of the Early Espresso 3-1/2" square piece. Attach the Real Red squares onto the two remaining corners of the piece.
  3. Attach the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of the 3" square Early Espresso piece (refer to instructions included with the adhesive sheets). Die-cut the piece with the star quilt block outline die from the Quilt Builder Framelits Dies. Stamp the star outline stamp from the Christmas Quilt Stamp Set onto the Whisper White square piece using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the dotted, quilt pieces stamp into two of the openings in the star outline using the Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad. Skip the next pair of quilt openings, and stamp the same stamp in the following two openings using the same ink pad. Stamp the last two sets of openings with the striped, quilt pieces stamp using the Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad.
  4. Die-cut the stamped star piece using it's coordinating framelit die. Remove the paper-backing from the adhesive sheet on the star quilt block outline die-cut. Attach the stamped, star quilt piece to the back of the star section of the outline die-cut. Attach the whole thing to the center of the embossed square pieces.
  5. Wrap the 5" ribbon piece around the bottom of the quilt piece, and attach the ribbon ends to the back of the piece using SNAIL Adhesive. Tie the 4" ribbon piece onto the center of the attached ribbon using a single knot. Attach the quilt piece to the right side of the card base. Attach a holly felt piece from the Stitched Felt Embellishments onto the top, left corner of the quilt piece using Tear & Tape Adhesive.
  6. Punch the right end of the Whisper White greeting banner piece using the Banner Triple Punch. The piece is narrower than the smallest guide in the punch, so you'll need to center the edges of the banner piece with the edges of the smallest guide. Stamp the "peace" stamp onto the center of the banner piece using the Early Espresso ink pad. Attach it to the top, right of the quilt piece using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  7. Inside of Card:  Stamp the quilt pattern triangles stamp onto the bottom, left corner of the Whisper White inside of card piece using the Garden Green ink pad. Make sure to leave about a 1/2" space in-between the image and the bottom edge of the cardstock. Stamp the plain, triangles stamp into the open spaces of the green triangle using the Real Red ink pad. Stamp the three-triangle stamp onto the bottom of the stamped triangle using the Early Espresso ink pad.

Short & Sweet Saturday - Thankful for You

As I'm writing this, I'm attending a crafting retreat, and having a ball! I'm finally getting to play with some more of my Holiday Catalog stuff, so I'm going to have some new stuff to share with you very soon!

Here's this week's Short & Sweet Saturday card. Yes, I made this here at the retreat, and yes, I've used this stamp set before. I just can't help it...I love this set! Painted Harvest is a perfect name for it. The flowers really do look like they've been painted instead of stamped. I'm having so much fun with it!

Dimensions:
  • Early Espresso:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2"
  • Crumb Cake:  4" x 2"
  • Whisper White:  4" x 4" (sunflower layer), 4" x 5-1/4" (inside), & scraps (leaves)
  • Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape:  6" (copper tape)
  • Touches of Nature Elements:  (1) pointy-leaf stem
Instructions:
  1. Fold the Early Espresso piece in half to form the card base (fold on the left). Stamp the "I am thankful..." stamp from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set onto the bottom, right corner of the Crumb Cake piece using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad. Attach the piece to the bottom of the card base.
  2. Stamp the larger sunflower stamp randomly around the Whisper White sunflower layer piece using the Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the smaller sunflower stamp onto the center of each stamped sunflower using the Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad. FYI:  The easiest way to line the stamp up is to line the center hole in the flower. Stamp the flower center stamp inside each sunflower using the Early Espresso ink pad. Stamp the "five-dotted" stamp randomly all over the piece using the Soft Suede Classic Stampin Pad.
  3. Put the copper tape from the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape across the bottom of the stamped piece, wrapping the tape ends to the back of the piece. Attach it to the top of the card base.
  4. Stamp the detailed, trio-leaf stem stamp onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock using the Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad. Ink the bolder, trio-leaf stem stamp with the Old Olive ink pad, stamp it onto a scrap piece paper, and then stamp it onto the top of the stamped leaves. Punch the leaves out with the Leaf Punch. Attach it to the top, left corner of the Crumb Cake layer. Attach a pointy-leaf stem from the Touches of Nature Elements to the bottom, right of the Old Olive leaves using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.
  5. Inside of Card:  Stamp the larger sunflower stamp onto the bottom, left corner of the Whisper White inside piece using the Crushed Curry ink pad. It should be a partial image (see second picture). Stamp the smaller sunflower stamp onto the center of the stamped sunflower using the Cajun Craze ink pad. Stamp the flower center stamp into the center of the sunflower using the Early Espresso ink pad. Attach inside of the card.

CPC Desktop Card Organizer & Notepad Holder

Today's Craft Project Central project is designed by Stephanie Purvis.

As crafters we all probably make a ton of cards. But when it comes to sending out those cards, sometimes we don’t get them out as often as we would like. We have to find the card, an envelope, stamps, address label, and even a pen. Sometimes that simple task takes a lot of effort and causes us to miss sending out a card! Here is a desktop organizer that can hold several types of cards, the envelopes to match them, and a drawer underneath that can contain a pen, stamps and even a few return address labels. This makes it so much more convenient to get those cards out! Everything you need is all in one place – right on top of your desk. This would also make a wonderful gift! Also in this project tutorial is a notepad holder to keep track of birthdays, events, or other notes!

If you would like to learn how to make this project, you'll want to subscribe for the month of September. With your subscription, you'll get illustrated, step-by-step instructions for five wonderful projects for only $10! You can find out how to gain access to a bonus sixth project over at Craft Project Central.

CPC Colorful Seasons Card Set & Gift Box

Today's Craft Project Central project is designed by Monika Davis.

Is your craft room getting full of too many stamp and die sets? Do you find you don’t get enough use out of your products? Here is a card set using the same stamp and die sets, paired with different techniques. The cards can be easily reproduced to make a number of sets. The coordinating box is also very easy to make and can be reused as a small gift bag. This is a fun card set showcasing the beautiful images of Colorful Seasons Stamp Set, the coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies and the sets versatility.

Short & Sweet Saturday - Winter Wonder Meets Cheers to the Year

Welcome to this week's Short & Sweet Saturday Card! It's time to start planning your Christmas cards, so I'm sharing a Christmas one to help you out.

It's so hard to get a good picture of shiny/glittery cards. This one is so much prettier in person! It doesn't take too long to make, either! It's hard to tell, but I de-bossed the snowflake with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This card shows off a few metallic colors...Champagne, Gold, and Silver.

My inspiration for this card was from one I found on Pinterest. The pin only takes you to a picture of the actual card, and you can see it HERE.

Dimensions:
  • Thick Whisper White:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card base)
  • Whisper White:  4" x 5-1/4' (base layer), 2" x 2" (greeting circle), and 5" x 3/4" (banner)
  • Champagne Foil Sheets:  4" x 3" (snowflake de-bossed layer)
  • Gold Glimmer Paper:  2-1/4" x 2-1/4" (scallop circe)
  • Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP):  4" x 2" (gold/silver snowflakes paper)
  • Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon:  6"
  • Foil Snowflakes:  1/2 gold snowflake
  • Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape:  Gold - 6" & Silver - 6"
Instructions:
  1. Attach the narrow, gold washi tape from the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape across the top edge of the Whisper White base layer piece. Attach the narrow, silver washi tape across the bottom edge of the piece. Attach the DSP piece across the bottom of the piece, right up against the bottom, silver washi tape.
  2. De-boss the Champagne Foil Sheet by running piece through the Big Shot with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Folder. How to put it in the folder:  With the Stampin' Up! logo facing down,
put the foil sheet inside the folder, foil side facing up. The top two-thirds of the snowflake should be over the foil sheet (refer to picture on the right). Attach the foil sheet across the top of the Whisper White base layer, right up against the top, gold washi tape.
  3. Wrap the Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon across the card where the foil sheet and DSP meet, and attach the ribbon ends to the back of the base layer using Fast Fuse Adhesive. Fold the Thick Whisper White piece in half to form the card base (fold on the left). Attach the de-bossed snowflake/DSP piece to the card base.
  4. Stamp the large snowflake stamp in the Cheers to the Year Stamp Set onto the Whisper White square piece using the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad. Brush the Embossing Buddy across the snowflake. Stamp the "Joy" stamp onto the center of the snowflake using the VersaMark Pad. Pour Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder over the word, and tap off the excess powder. Melt the powder until shiny using the Heat Tool (heat embossing technique). Die-cut the snowflake out with the #3 circle die (with the smallest circle die being #1) from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies. Die-cut the Gold Glimmer Paper with the #4 scallop circle die (with the smallest scallop circle being #1). Attach the snowflake circle to the center of the gold glimmer scallop circle using Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  5. Punch both ends of the Whisper White banner piece with the Banner Triple Punch. The piece is narrower than the center guide in the punch, so make sure to center the piece in-between the sides of the center guide. Attach the snowflake/scallop circle piece to the center of the banner.
  6. Cut a gold snowflake from the Foil Snowflakes in half. Attach the bottom of the scallop circle to the top of the half snowflake (straight edge of snowflake on top). The straight edge of the snowflake should be just under the banner. Attach the whole thing to the center of the de-bossed snowflake using Stampin' Dimensionals.
