Rustic Birthday Card

Today, I want to share the card I made for my hubby for his birthday last Saturday. I CASEd this one from one that Emma Goddard from the UK made. I made a few changes to make it my own, but I sure didn't change it much! LoL The card features the Waterfront Stamp Set, and the greeting came from the Host Exclusive Set, Very Vintage.

The wood log paper comes from the Wood Textures 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP), and this paper is part of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Sale Stampin' Up! is having this month. It's a great annual sale, and it's a great way to get some wonderful DSP packs from the new Annual Catalog. I took advantage of it, and my DSP order will be here on Friday! I'm glad, because there are some packs I've been dying to get, and I wanted to wait until this sale so I could save some money! 😊

Dimensions:
  • Crumb Cake:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card base)
  • Early Espresso:  4" x 5-1/4" (base layer) & 2-5/8" x 5-1/8" (image mat)
  • Whisper White:  2-1/2" x 5-1/8" (main image), 3" x 1/2" (greeting banner), & 4" x 5-1/4" (inside)
  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP):  3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
  • 5/8" Burlap Ribbon:  5"
  • Gold Mini Sequin Trim:  5"
  • Linen Thread:  18"

Instructions:
  1. Fold the Crumb Cake piece in half (fold on the left) to form the card base. Attach the DSP piece to the center of the largest Early Espresso piece. Lay the Burlap Ribbon across the middle of the DSP piece. Attach the left end of the ribbon to the back of the Early Epsresso layer. Put adhesive onto the DSP in a few places, under the Burlap Ribbon, and attach by pressing the ribbon into the adhesive. Trim the right end at an angle. Attach the Gold Mini Sequin Trim the same way, but use scotch tape to attach the left end to the back of the Early Espresso layer, and use Mini Glue Dots to attach the trim onto the front of the card. Attach the whole thing to the middle of the card front.
  2. Stamp the mountain stamp from the Waterfront Stamp Set two times across the middle of the largest Whisper White piece using the Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the long, skinny strip stamp across the piece two times, under the mountains, using the Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the large, upside-down, triangular brushstroke stamp onto the bottom of the land section using the Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp it again, without re-inking to the right and left of the first one. Stamp the pine trees stamp two times across the piece using the Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the circle stamp onto the top, right side of piece using the Crushed Curry Classic :Stampin' Pad. Using a Sponge Dauber, sponge the sky section of the piece lightly with ink from the Pool Party ink pad.
  3. Attach the image piece to the center of the smallest Early Espresso piece. Wrap the Linen Thread around the piece, just under the trees, two times. Thread both ends of the thread through two different openings in the top of a copper, trio-leaf embellishment from the Leaves Trinkets (one on each side of the stem). Tie the thread ends into a single-knot first, and then tie it into a bow. Attach the piece to the middle of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  4. Stamp the "Happy Birthday" stamp from the Very Vintage Stamp Set onto the center of the smallest Whisper White piece using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad. Cut a little triangle out of each end, with Paper Snips, to make the banner ends. Attach the banner across the bottom of the image piece.
  5. Inside of Card:  Stamp the right end of the long, skinny brushstroke stamp two times onto the left, bottom corner of the Whisper White inside piece using the Old Olive ink pad. Stamp the mountain stamp on top of it using the Crumb Cake ink pad. Stamp the pine trees stamp onto the left side of the images using the Mossy Meadow ink pad.

Use SNAIL Adhesive when attaching, unless stated otherwise.
