Short & Sweet Saturday - Abstract Impressions

Here's this week's Short & Sweet Saturday card. I promised that I'd make a card using the Big Shot Embossing Mats, and here's my first one. It was SO easy! I love the effect, too! I used the beautiful, large floral die from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies with the embossing mats. It's so neat how a die that usually cuts can now emboss!

It's so hard to tell in the picture, but I used the new Sparkle Glimmer Paper on the butterfly. It's so glittery and sparkly in person! I accidentally used Powder Pink Cardstock instead of Petal Pink to match the Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems, but I think it still looks great. It was a happy accident.

Dimensions:

  • Thick Whisper White:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card base)
  • Powder Pink:  4" x 5-1/4" (embossed layer)
  • Sparkle Glimmer Paper:  4" x 2-3/4" (butterfly)
  • Whisper White 5/8" Polka-Dot Tulle Ribbon:  6" x 5"

Instructions:

  1. Emboss thee bottom right corner of the Powder Pink piece with the large floral die in the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies using the Big Shot Embossing Mats. Use the following sandwich when running it through the Big Shot...(starting from the bottom) Big Shot Platform, die with blade facing up, cardstock, blue (thin) silicone rubber mat, and white Impressions Pad. Wrap the 6" piece of tulle ribbon around the top of the piece, and attach the ribbon ends to the back of the Powder Pink piece. Tie the 5" piece onto the right side of the attached ribbon using a single knot, and trim the ribbon ends at an angle. Stamp the "Thank You" stamp from the Abstract Impressions Stamp Set onto the, top right side of the piece (below the ribbon) using the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad.
  2. With the 8-1/2" sides on the top and bottom, score the piece at 4-1/4". Fold along the score line to form the card base. Attach the Powder Pink piece onto the center of the card front.
  3. Die-cut a butterfly out of the Sparkle Glimmer Paper piece using the butterfly die from the same die set. Use the following sandwich when running it through the Big Shot...(starting from the bottom) Big Shot Platform, Thin Die Adapter, Standard Cutting Pad, glimmer paper, die with blade facing down, and Standard Cutting Pad. Put three Mini Glue Dots onto the back of the butterfly's body, and attach it to the bottom, left of the card. Attach a six-sided gem from the Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems onto the top of the butterfly's body. Bend the wings up a bit.

Use SNAIL Adhesive when attaching, unless stated otherwise.
