Short & Sweet Saturday - Abstract Impressions

Happy Saturday, everyone! For the last couple of days, I've been at a crop with my friends. What's a crop? It's when a group of ladies get-together, bring their crafting supplies, and make their creations...scrapbook pages, cards, etc. Of course, there's also a lot of talking, laughing, and eating. Let's be honest...there's probably more talking, laughing, and eating then creating. LoL We always have a lot of fun. There are MANY ladies in my area that go to crops on a regular basis. I go to a few a year (close to once a month), but some go a lot more. We've become family over the years, and it's wonderful!

Yesterday, I was able to make my first Short & Sweet Saturday card of the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. I used one of my favorite, new stamp sets, Abstract Impressions. My color combo was inspired by the new Tinted Faceted Buttons. I also added Flirty Flamingo and Soft Sea Foam to the mix. I have to say,  LOVE how Flirty Flamingo and Lovely Lipstick look together on the large flowers on the card. They are even prettier in person!

Dimensions:

  • Lovely Lipstick:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (card base) & 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" (image mat)
  • Soft Sea Foam:  5-1/4" x 4" (embossed layer)
  • Whisper White:  5-1/4" x 2" (image layer)
  • Lovely Lipstick 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon:  7" (strip), & 9" (bow)

Instructions:

  1. Emboss the top half of the Soft Sea Foam piece by running it through the Big Shot inside the Garden Trellis Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Make sure the cardstock isn't too far out of the folder. If it is, it won't be able to go through the Big Shot. Stamp the "If flowers were hugs..." stamp from the Abstract Impressions Stamp Set onto the bottom, right corner of the piece using the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad.
  2. Stamp the two flowers and leaves all over the Whisper White piece.
    1. Roses:  Stamp the smaller, rose-type stamp using the Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin' Pad. Ink the medium-sized, rose-type stamp with the same ink pad, stamp it onto a scrap piece of paper, and stamp it on top of the first (stamp-off technique). Stamp the larger, rose-type stamp on top of it using the Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad.
    2. Smaller flowers:  Stamp the smaller, fluffy flower stamp using the Grapefruit Grove Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the larger, fluffy flower stamp on top of the first using the stamp-off technique and the same ink pad
    3. Leaves:  Stamp the double-leaf outline stamp using the Call Me Clover Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the double leaf-like bold stamp inside the double-leaf outline using the Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin' Pad. Note:  The double leaf-like bold stamp doesn't fit into the double-leaf outline perfectly, but it looks great.
  3. Attach the floral piece across the middle of the Lovely Lipstick image mat piece. Attach it across the Soft Sea Foam piece, directly above the greeting. Wrap the 7" ribbon piece across the bottom part of the image piece, and attach the ribbon ends to the back of the Soft Sea Foam piece.
  4. Fold largest Lovely Lipstick piece in half (fold on top) to form the card base. Attach the Soft Sea Foam piece to the center of the card front. Tie the 9" ribbon piece into a bow, and attach it to the left side of the attached ribbon using a Mini Glue Dot. Trim the ribbon ends at an angle.
When attaching, use SNAIL Adhesive, unless stated otherwise.
