Highland Heather Butterfly Card

Today's card is one I made for a card swap at a demonstrator event I attended last Saturday. My upline and a couple of my sidelines put on an event for us, since we couldn't attend OnStage. Stampin' Up! gave us a short list of some stamp sets that were carrying over to the new annual catalog, and Abstract Impressions was one of them. I love this stamp set, and I'm so glad it's sticking around! The Springtime Impressions Dies, that coordinate with the stamp set,  are also carrying over. One thing though, the bundle is retiring. If you want to save 10% getting both the stamp set and the dies, you'll need to order the bundle before it's sold out or June 3, whichever comes first.

I wanted to use items I knew would carry over so the other demonstrators that swapped would be able to use the card for at least a year. I was a little nervous about the ribbon, but we now know that it made it into the annual catalog, along with the Leaf Punch, Subtle embossing folder, and the Layering Ovals Dies. I'm SO happy about the Subtle embossing folders. I love the "subtle" texture it gives projects. I used it on the leaf punch-out.

Dimensions:
  • Soft Sea Foam:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card base) & scraps (leaves)
  • Highland Heather:  4" x 2-1/4" (butterfly)
  • Gorgeous Grape:  3" x 2" (scallop oval)
  • Whisper White:  4" x 5-1/4" (base layer) & 2-3/4" x 1-3/4" (oval)
  • Gorgeous Grape 1/4" Mini Striped Ribbon:  7"

Instructions:
  1. Ink the boldest, largest flower stamp from the Abstract Impressions Stamp Set using the Highland Heather Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp onto a piece of scrap paper, and then stamp it onto the top, left of the larger Whisper White piece (stamp-off technique). Do this again around four more times to have a zigzag line of flowers on the left side of the piece. Stamp the smaller-lined, largest flower stamp onto the center of each flower using the Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the medium-lined, largest flower stamp onto each flower using the Highland Heather ink pad (do not stamp-off).
  2. Stamp the double-leaf outline stamp around the flowers using the Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the double-leaf-like bold stamp inside each leaf outline using the same ink pad. Wrap the ribbon down the left side of the stamped Whisper White piece, attaching the ribbon ends to the back of the piece.
  3. Fold the Soft Sea Foam piece in half to form the card base. Attach the stamped piece onto the center of the card base.
  4. Die-cut a butterfly out of the Highland Heather piece using the butterfly die from the Springtime Impressions Dies. Punch leaves out of the Soft Sea Foam scrap piece using the Leaf Punch. Emboss the leaves using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  5. Die-cut an oval out of the smaller Whisper White piece using the #4 oval die (#1 being the smallest). Stamp the "So happy about..." stamp onto the top, left of the oval using the Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad. Die-cut a scallop oval out of the Gorgeous Grape piece using the #4 scallop oval die. Attach the greeting oval to the center of the scallop oval.
  6. Put Mini Glue Dots onto the back of the top half of the butterfly body, and attach the butterfly to the bottom, right of the oval. Attach the scallop oval to the bottom, center of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals, making sure the butterfly isn't hanging over the edge of the card base.
  7. Put a Mini Glue Dot onto the back of the center leaf, and attach it to the top, left of the scallop oval, tucking the stem underneath the scallop oval.

Use SNAIL Adhesive when attaching, unless stated otherwise.

One More Thing...

I'm doing my now weekly Facebook Live tomorrow @ 4 p.m. I'll be making 3 versions of a card using the Needle & Thread Bundle. This bundle is in the Occasions Catalog, and it's also retiring. There will be a beginner stamper version, a casual stamper version, and an avid stamper version.

I hope you'll join me!
