I love this owl! When I received my Big Shot starter kit, I liked the Top Note Bigz die that came in the kit, but I didn't think I'd use it that much. Boy, was I wrong! There is so much that you can do with this die! I've learned some of the uses on the demonstrator only-side of the website and some from other demonstrators. I wish I could take credit for coming up with the idea of turning it into an owl, but I can't. I saw another card using this owl on Splitcoaststampers, and I just had to make one for myself. It was really fun to make! I'm so glad that I purchased this die! I've already got my money's worth out of it! I think he'd look really cute on a scrapbook page, too. I feel another project coming on!
It's very easy to make. After running the cardstock through the Big Shot, I cut the Top Note piece in half. I then flipped both ends over so the top and the bottom of the Top Note were in the middle. Before putting them together, I cut out an oval from the Autumn Vine Designer Paper with the Oval Coluzzle. I sponged Chocolate Chip ink around the edges of the oval, and attached it to the bottom part of the owl. Then, I attached the top of the owl to the bottom, overlapping just a little bit. To make the eyes, I punched the Really Rust circles with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, the Whisper White circles with the 1" Circle Punch, and the Basic Black circles with the 1/2" Circle Punch. I attach the circles together to make the eyes, and then attached to the owl. I made the beak and the owl feet with the 5-Petal Flower Punch. The feet are made with 2 petals each, and then the remaining petal is cut off for the beak. Attach them and...Voila, you've got an owl. I sponged the edges of the sage-color Autumn Vine designer paper, and attached to my More Mustard card. I then attached the little rust Autumn Vine paper strip across the bottom of the sage paper, attached a pewter jumbo eyelet to each end, and stamped the saying from the Season of Friendship set (from the Holiday Mini) with Chocolate Chip ink. Then I attached the owl to the card. That's it!
