Last Minute Christmas Money Holders

I can't believe how fast this month has flown by! As a kid, I couldn't wait until Christmas Day so I could open my presents. As an adult, I wish December would go slower. I really enjoy the whole Christmas season, with the lights, decorations, movies, etc. Of course, the most important is remembering that Jesus was born to save the world!

Well, all of my wrapping is finished, but I needed some packaging for two Christmas money gifts. I didn't just want to put the money into a little gift bag, so I made these money holders. I LOVE how they turned out. They're very basic money holders, but the decorating on them is what makes them extra special. I used A LOT of retiring Holiday Catalog items to make these. If you don't have some, or all, of the retiring items I used, and you want them, you'll need to hurry! They're only available until January 2, 2018 or while supplies last, whichever comes first.

I've made a little illustrated, tutorial for you, and it's below. The pictures are for the Merry Cafe money holder, but you do exactly the same thing to make the Glittery Trees one. If you would like to see a larger version of any of the pictures, just click on them.  FYI:  "DSP" is short for Designer Series Paper.

Dimensions for Merry Cafe Money Holder:
  • Garden Green:  7" x 7-1/2" (money holder)
  • Basic Black:  2" x 3/4" (belt) & 1/2" x 1/2" (buckle)
  • Whisper White:  2-1/2" x 1" (lid) & 3" x 2" (greeting label)
  • Red Glimmer:  2" x 3" (cup)
  • Gold Glimmer:  3/4" x 3/4" (buckle)
  • Christmas Around the World DSP:  2" x 7" (belly band)
  • Foil Snowflake:  1 Gold snowflake
  • Stitched Felt Embellishments:  1 holly
Instructions:

1.  Stamp the snowflake outline stamp from the Merry Cafe Stamp Set all over the Garden Green piece using the Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad. With a 7-1/2" side along the top of the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, score the Garden Green piece at 2" and 5".

2.  Turn the piece over, making sure the 2-1/2" section is on the bottom. Put Fast Fuse Adhesive onto each end of the bottom, 2-1/2" section.

3.  Fold the bottom section up, and attach it to the middle section. Put the money inside the pocket.
4a.  Punch out a label from the Whisper White label piece using the Everday Label Punch. Stamp the "Cheer" stamp from the Merry Cafe Stamp Set onto the bottom center of the label using the Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the "Christmas" stamp above it using the Garden Green ink pad. Stamp the "Merry" stamp above it using the Real Red ink pad. 4b.  Wrap the Christmas Around the World DSP piece around the money holder. Raise the top section, and put Fast Fuse Adhesive across the end of the back side. Fold it back down to form the belly band.

5.  Die-cut a cup from the Red Glimmer piece  using the largest cup die from the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies. Die-cut a lid from the last Whisper White piece using the lid die. Attach the lid to the top of the cup using Fast Fuse. Attach the Basic Black strip across the center of the cup using Fast Fuse.

6.  Trim the ends of the Basic Black strip that are hanging over the edges of the cup off. Attach the Gold Glimmer square to the center of the belt, and then attach the Basic Black square to the center of it. The attaching needs to be done with Fast Fuse.
7.  Using Fast Fuse Adhesive, attach the cup to the center of a gold snowflake from the Foil Snowflakes. Take the belly band off of the money holder, and lay it down so the side with the "seam" is on top.

8.  Using Fast Fuse Adhesive, Attach the cup/snowflake to the center of the belly band. Attach a holly embellishment from the Stitched Felt Embellishments using three Mini Glue Dots. Slip the belly band back onto the money holder.

Supply List for the Merry Cafe Money Holder - Note:  All items marked with an "*" are retiring, and are only available until January 2, 2018 or while supplies last...whichever comes first. If you're reading this from an email feed, the supply list program I use doesn't show. You'll need to go to the actual blog post to see it.

Dimensions for the Glittery Trees Money Holder:

  • Year of Cheer Specialty DSP:  7" x 7-1/2" (money holder) & 2" x 7" (belly band)
  • Silver Glimmer Paper: 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" (scallop circle)
  • Gold Glimmer Paper:  4" x 2-1/4" (trees)
  • Champagne Foil:  scraps (deer)
  • Whisper White:  3" x 3" (circle) & 3-1/4" x 1/2" (banner)
Instructions:
  1. Repeat Step 1-3 above (except for the stamping) to make the money holder.
  2. Repeat Step 4b to make the belly band. I used the gold gingham paper from the Year of Cheer DSP.
  3. Die-cut a circle out of the larger Whisper White piece using the second, largest circle die from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies. Emboss the circle by running it through the Big Shot with the Holly Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Die-cut a scallop circle out of the Silver Glimmer piece using the largest scallop circle die. Attach the embossed circle onto the center of the scallop circle using Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  4. Die-cut trees out of the Gold Glimmer piece using both the single and double tree dies from the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies. Attach the single tree die-cut to the left side of the circle using Fast Fuse. Attach the double trees die-cut to the right of the first tree, using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
  5. Punch the right end of the smaller Whisper White piece using the Banner Triple Punch. The piece needs to be centered in the middle of the smallest guide in the punch, and also inserted as far as it can go into the punch. Stamp the "Merry Christmas" stamp from the Star of Light Stamp Set onto the banner using the Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad.
  6. Die-cut a deer from the Champagne Foil scrap using the deer die. Attach the right end of the deer to the left end of the banner using Fast Fuse. Turn the banner/deer over. Put Mini Stampin' Dimensionals along the bottom edge of the banner (but not all the way to the right end of it), and one on the center part of the deer. Attach it to the bottom of the circle.
  7. Take the belly band off of the money holder. Lay it down so the "seam" is facing up. Attach the scallop circle to the belly band using Fast Fuse. Slip the belly band back onto the money holder.
